For Swedish meatballs, I raised the baking temperature, and cut a few minutes off the recommended baking time. This makes the meatballs a bit crusty on the outside, and warm and juicy on the inside! Just like Mormor made!
8TBSPberry jam, lingonberry, marionberry or blackberry are all excellent.
Instructions
Preheat open to 400°F (205°C)
Line a baking sheet with a silpat, parchment paper, or foil for easy cleanup.
Place the frozen meatballs on the baking sheet leaving a bit of space between them. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 mins until they are slightly crusty on the outside and wonderfully warm on the inside.
Traditionally Swedish meatballs are served with a dollop of Lingonberry Jam (a Swedish delicacy). Feel free to substitute marionberry or blackberry jam, or any other local berry jam.
Notes
I realize that not all of you live close to an Ikea store to buy vegan, true Swedish meatballs. So I volunteer to be your research assistant. Between now and the end of the year I will sample the major brands of meatless meatballs available nation wide. It will require a lot of eating, but someone has to do it! I will cook them and subject them to a blind taste test where I will determine which vegan meatballs are most like Mormor’s. Hey, someone has to do it. To be notified of the results of this scientific research, be sure you sign our guest book HERE so you are added to our mailing list.
